North Korea, officially called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (Hangul: 조선 민주주의 인민 공화국, Choson Minjujuŭi Inmin Konghwaguk) is a country in East Asia, which includes the northern portion of the Korean Peninsula. The capital and largest city is Pyongyang. Korean Demilitarized Zone into the boundary between North and South Korea. And Amnok Tumen River form the border between North Korea and the People's Republic of China. Most of the Tumen River in the northeast is the border with Russia. The locals call this country Pukchosŏn (북조선, "Choson North").

The Korean peninsula was ruled by the Korean Empire until it was annexed by Japan following the Russo-Japanese War in 1905. After the defeat of Japan in World War II, Korea was divided into Soviet occupied territories and the United States. North Korea refused to participate in a UN-supervised election held in the south in 1948, which led to the formation of two separate Korean governments for the two occupation zones. Neither North Korea nor South Korea both claim sovereignty over the entire peninsula, which led to the Korean War in 1950. An armistice in 1953 ended the fighting; but the two countries are officially still at war because a peace treaty was never signed. Both countries accepted as a member of the United Nations Bangsapada 1991. In May 26, 2009, North Korea unilaterally withdrew from the armistice.

North Korea was included in the one-party state under the front unification led by the Labour Party following the state Korea. Juche Governance ideology, which was initiated by Kim Il-sung, the former leader of the country. Juche became the official state ideology when the country adopted a new constitution in 1972, though Kim Il-sung had been using it to form policy since at least the beginning of the year 1955. Meanwhile officially a socialist republic, North Korea is considered by most countries as a totalitarian Stalinist dictatorship , After the death of Kim Jong-ilpada dated December 19, 2011, is expected next North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the youngest son of Kim Jong-il.
